Can I work offline or with poor connectivity?
No — CalcAuthor is a cloud app that runs in your browser, so it requires an internet connection. There's currently no offline mode.
How is my engineering data stored and protected?
Your documents and account data are stored on PostgreSQL infrastructure hosted by Render, with encryption in transit. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Who is behind CalcAuthor?
CalcAuthor is built by Muhammad Burhan Mazher, P.Eng., a structural engineer, through UzBur Tech Solutions, a division of UzBur Consulting Inc. (Canada). See the story behind it.
Is 7 days enough to evaluate?
Most teams get a clear sense of fit within a few documents. If you need more time before your trial ends, reach out — we're happy to talk it through.
Do you offer annual billing?
Not yet — both plans are billed monthly only. If annual billing would help your team, let us know.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Every plan includes a 7-day free trial with no card required.
What happens to my documents if my subscription lapses?
Nothing is ever deleted. On the Individual plan, your account switches to read-only for your own documents. On the Team plan, non-Admin members are paused; the Admin's account stays active to manage billing. Reactivating your subscription restores full access immediately.
Can I change how many seats my Team plan has?
Yes — Admins can add or remove seats anytime directly on Stripe's own billing page, with no support ticket required.
What unit systems does CalcAuthor support?
CalcAuthor is unit-aware natively — mix SI and Imperial units in the same calculation, and the engine converts and checks dimensional consistency automatically. Mismatched units (e.g. adding a length to a force) raise an error instead of silently producing a wrong answer.
What can I export to?
One-click export to a polished, submission-ready PDF, with an auto-generated Table of Contents, List of Figures, and List of Tables.
Can I recover an accidentally deleted document?
Yes — deleted documents sit in your Recycle Bin for 30 days before permanent deletion, so an accidental delete is never final.
Can I organize documents into folders?
Yes, on both plans. Team plans can additionally share folders across the team.
Does CalcAuthor support citing codes and standards?
Yes — insert auto-numbered inline citations ([R1], [R2], …) with a master reference list that stays in sync as you add or remove sources.
Who is responsible for verifying calculation results?
You are — CalcAuthor is a calculation and authoring tool, not a substitute for engineering judgment or independent review. See our Terms of Service for details.
