Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CalcAuthor ("CalcAuthor," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our cloud app and related services (collectively, the "Service"). CalcAuthor is a product of UzBur Tech Solutions, a division of UzBur Consulting Inc.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing (via ASP.NET Core Identity) — we never store or have access to your password in plain text.
- Billing information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your full card number on our own servers.
- User Content: calculations, formulas, variables, report text, images, tables, and documents you create within CalcAuthor.
- Communications: any information you provide when contacting us for support or feedback.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, and general interaction data within the Service.
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers, collected for security, diagnostics, and reliability.
This marketing website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (pages visited, general location, device and browser type) — see Section 7 for details. The CalcAuthor cloud app itself does not use any advertising or analytics trackers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including saving and retrieving your documents and calculations;
- Authenticate your account and secure access to your data;
- Process payments and manage subscriptions, including your 7-day free trial;
- Enforce billing status — for example, reducing access if a subscription lapses unpaid, as described in our Terms of Service;
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, or support requests;
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the performance and reliability of the Service;
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information or your User Content to third parties.
3. How We Share Information
We do not share your personal information or User Content except in the following circumstances:
3.1 Service providers. We share information with the third-party vendors who help us operate the Service: Render (application hosting and database infrastructure), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email, such as verification and team-invite emails), and Google Analytics (aggregate traffic analytics on this marketing website only — see Section 7). These providers are bound by their own contractual and legal obligations to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us.
3.2 Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
3.3 Business transfers. If CalcAuthor is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
3.4 With your consent. We may share information for other purposes with your explicit consent.
4. Where and How Your Data Is Stored
4.1 Your account information and User Content are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Render's infrastructure. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect this data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls limiting who can view your data.
4.2 While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
4.3 We do not guarantee that your data is backed up. You are responsible for maintaining independent backups of critical engineering documents, as described in ourTerms of Service.
5. Data Retention
5.1 We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide the Service to you.
5.2 A document you delete yourself is moved to a Recycle Bin, where you can restore it at any time within 30 days. After 30 days it is purged automatically and cannot be recovered.
5.3 If you close your account, contact us and we will delete or anonymize your personal information and User Content within a reasonable period, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Request deletion of your personal information;
- Request an export of your User Content;
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your information;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can export any individual document to PDF at any time from within CalcAuthor. To exercise any of the other rights above, contact us. CalcAuthor does not yet offer a self-service data-export or account-deletion tool, so we handle these requests manually and will respond within a reasonable time.
7. Cookies & Local Storage
CalcAuthor keeps you logged in using a secure token stored in your browser's local storage, not a tracking cookie, and the CalcAuthor cloud app itself does not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
This marketing website (the pages you're reading right now, separate from the cloud app) uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are visited, roughly where from, and on what kind of device — using cookies and similar identifiers. This data is tied to your browser, not your CalcAuthor account. You can opt out using a browser extension such as Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
If you subscribe to a paid plan, Stripe's own checkout page may set cookies necessary to process your payment securely — that is governed by Stripe's privacy policy, not this one.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
If you access the Service from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in a different jurisdiction. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers, as required by applicable law.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party services (such as Stripe for payments). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (such as by email or in-app notice) before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent revision.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal information, please contact us.
